It was a crisp May morning in Melbourne as Boozer stretched and yawned to mark the beginning of another day in the life of being Boozer. Today wasn't just any other day though. Today was Battle Arena Melbourne. Boozer was very excited for BAM and realised he should practice not placing 25th so as impress his visiting senpai, Aero. Boozer jumps online and requests some urgent "Not placing 25th" wifi games in the thread that Maribro, senpai of all, had made. Boozer finds a laggy enough game for his desires and begins his practice. Meanwhile…
Aero stared, blank eyed, at the ceiling of his hotel. His seemingly perfect holiday had already been somewhat tumultuous. The hotel he had booked for the duration of BAM had messed up his booking and could only provide him accommodation for the first night. On top of this, Aero realised that sandbagging in pools for a major tournament probably wouldn't allow him to place well. This disturbed Aero greatly. Sandbagging was all he knew, putting effort into a game was an alien subject and one Aero realised he needed to learn. Aero was comforted with the knowledge he had a money match with Boozer. He could see it was unloseable. "25th? I can place that WHILE I'm sandbagging" Aero smirked. Aero, now comforted, prepared his things and left for BAM. Meanwhile…
Boozer was enjoying his online wifi games a lot. "I wish IRL was this laggy" he thought. The confidence boost was real. Boozer now wholly believed he could place higher than 25th. It had come at a cost though. Boozer checked his watch and realised he was running late. Boozer grabbed all of his stuff and left, rushing to the venue to arrive there barely on time. While lining up, he noticed a particularly cute man with an incredible ass. It was Aero. Boozer hoped that Aero would notice him, but as usual Aero did not and didn't even turn around and look Boozer in the eye. Boozer, disappointed, trudged around BAM with a sad face. Leisha, seeing boozer in such a sad state of affairs, hugged boozer and asked what was wrong.
"I saw the love of my life, but the senpai didn't even notice me." Boozer moaned.
Leisha hugged tighter now, almost as tightly as the robot she so loved.
"It's okay Boozer, come with me." Leisha replied.
Leisha led Boozer straight to Aero, their eyes met. Boozer could see right into the soul of Aero and he liked what he saw. The frame data goddess himself. The deep intelligence, the analytical mind. It was all in his eyes. Aero looked into Boozer. He saw a beast of a man trying to get out, he saw genuinely nice guy and it made Aero smile meakly. The gaze between Boozer and Aero had got to that awkward stage where something should have been said about ten seconds ago but the staring had continued. Leisha attempted to start a conversation but the two were far too entranced by each other's eyes to focus on any of there surroundings. The gaze was only broken by the tournament organisers calling for games. Boozer and Aero parted ways for now, but both knew they'd see each other later for the money match and this excited them.
Later that day, they reconvened for the money match. Boozer had had trouble avoiding 25th place but had done well by believing in himself and by pretending there was input delay. Aero had also had trouble overcoming his personal sandbagging demons but was also doing well. Boozer and Aero stared intently into each other's eyes again, both smiling and then turning away. Boozer and Aero had to play rock paper scissors to determine stage bans. Boozer called paper and Aero rock.
"Paper wraps rock" Boozer spoke softly, reaching his hand out to grab Aero's fist. Aero looked up as Boozer held his fist and giggled.
Boozer and Aero organised their stage bans and ended up at Smashville because where else is a first game ever played? As they were on the loading screen waiting for the match to start, Aero turned to Boozer and whispered "I'd like to settle down in a place like Smashville one day". This made Boozer's heart race. Aero was giving him all the signs. Had senpai truly noticed him?
Boozer won game one in a tight affair. Boozer realised there was no 25th in a 1v1 money match and so, after a shaky start, actually played well. Better than Aero was expecting. Aero chose his counterpick to Delfino Plaza. Again, at the loading screen, Aero whispered something to Boozer. This time, he said "I'd like to go on holiday one day to somewhere like Delfino". Boozer's heart was now beating so fast the audience could hear it. Boozer dominated game two, showing Aero what he was truly made of. Boozer got up too shake Aero's hand, but to his surprise Aero was not standing. Instead, he was on one knee.
"I may have said there was nothing in it for you if you won the money match, but I was lying. If you won the money match, you won my love. Please, take this ring."
"A-Aero, I didn't… I didn't know you were like this. Of course I'll take your ring, how about you come back to my place to stay the rest of the tournament?" Boozer replied with a shaky voice.
"I'd love that, Boozer, just as I love you."
Aero stood up now and hugged Boozer. The two were now closer than they'd ever been and they both knew the relationship would be a long lasting and loving one.
