Website Suggestions

QLD Smash is a website that will never be 100% complete - there's always room for new features!

Post any suggestions you have on how to enhance QLD Smash here, remembering that QLD Smash is a website that focuses mainly on both online and competitive Super Smash Bros. content and data for Australians.

I'm assuming here that this is talking about how pools just currently show all the first places first, then the seconds, etc and how it's not grouped into pools yeah?

Currently
1st. Pool a
1st. Pool b
1st. Pool c
2nd. Pool a
2nd. Pool b
2nd. Pool c
3rd. Pool a

etc

Instead
Pool A
1st
2nd
3rd

Pool B
1st
2nd
3rd

----

This is how I'm understanding this. Is this correct?

There's too much cluster on most pages, too much information on one page, need to simplify it somewhat.

Yep, that's pretty much what I was getting at it. Looking at pools results at the moment doesn't really say much and it's really difficult to figure out what the pools were actually like.

Make the website auto refresh the front page whenever someone makes a new post, do you know how much that can save people's time?

If I enable this on the home page then it causes performance issues because of how much traffic that page gets. Home page is not designed to auto refresh for this reason.

The online page is built with auto refreshing, so please use this and not the home page.
Also shall be testing some new code for the tournament results pages soon. If you see weirdness please understand and report here what pages it's occurring on.
Russell's feedback on the display of pools for tournament results has been implemented.

Please let me know if I've missed the mark here or addressed the issue.

The websites layout is very good but if there was one thing I would improve its that the size of the font for the 3DS friend codes is increased. Im not sure if its just me but I sometimes have had to zoom the page in to see the code.

No it actually didnt. It doesnt update new posts. It only updates the time of the page you're on.
So say I post something here and I have the forum page open and someone else posts here, the forum page doesnt update with the new user posting. It only updates the time of me posting here last.

When in the forums (although it's only for one thread at the moment) can you make it automatically go to the last page?

Not a big thing, but it'd be awesome if we could add emoticons to Shoutouts too. Soo when I next make a comment about a Link someone posted, my cool awesome wit will get across. (Warning: It's not actually witty or funny, and may cause uncomfortable laughs, rashes, and death)

I have that last page icon only because I found sometimes I wanted the first page, and sometimes I wanted the last page when looking at a thread and thought

It should also only take you to the latest thread when the forums are listed in the sidebar or footer. I'd like to keep it this way so that users have both options.

Shoutouts are not meant to be visual-outs, however the character icons have been designed to allow them to be used inline, so I can't see a problem with this. Would like to implement, but not a quick fix.

I also liked the 3DS font size increase suggestion. Will implement.

Honestly, Crayon, people are just parroting what I said to you in beta

no one has time for the first page of a thread

How many people don't want the option to see see first post at all then? BowserJr
10/15/2014 02:36:50

What? On most forums it's normal to open the first page of a thread of you click it. Smashboards is a special child. I say to move that blue arrow to the left side of the title, as where it is right now is a bit far to move the mouse to and when you hover of it it says "Go to last post" instead of the name of the last poster.

Kaion, I'll be posting my suggestions story here soon so people can throw in their opinions too.

Any chance of a flash chatbox on the website somewhere?
I feel like this would be a much easier way to organize people for games/see who's online, as well as be useful as a place for general chat and hanging out.
A forum I used to visit used (IIRC) 123flashchat, which was fine. Maybe an IRC channel or a Mumble channel for voice could work, if someone was willing to set it up.

EDIT: Also, minor gripe about the nav bar - Clicking on [QLD Smash] should take me to the front page.
Why doesn't it? =[

It's kind of necessary to be able to go to the first page of threads, then the last page for new replies.
But let's face it, the forums are a mess anyway.
